Using the back door!
Urglers,
I know that we all like lots of bees visiting our gardens, but why, oh why, do the ones going around my runner beans always use the back door to get at the nectar? Regards |
Using the back door!
Urglers,
I know that we all like lots of bees visiting our gardens, but why, oh why, do the ones going around my runner beans always use the back door to get at the nectar? I'd not heard of this until a few days ago when it was mentioned on a gardening program. Since then I've noticed bees doing that with our aquilegia flowers - there is a small hole at the base of each flower where they are taking the nectar from. I watched one going from flower to flower and "stealing" the nectar this way. -- Drakanthus. (Spam filter: Include the word VB anywhere in the subject line or emails will never reach me.) |
