What to do with soil from potatoes

I have just dug up my potatoes that were grown in a pot
(And very nice they were!)

But what can I do with the soil?

Can I simply bung a plant in there?
Or will the soil be drained of nutrients?

Should I bung it straight on my compost heap?
I have some potatoes groing in the ground aswell....
Can I put it straight on those?

Not drained, but you might need to fertilise the plants

Can do, but there are better uses.

Yes (provided your pot grown potatoes were healthy and disease free)

Or use it as a mulch to improve a small patch of soil elsewhere.

Right....In that case I'll leave that Idea.....

Thought there would be!

They seem fine...No discolouration or anything....
All seems good and healthy

Or use it as a mulch to improve a small patch of soil elsewhere.

I'll do this then....
I have a couple of small areas that could do with a little adding to to
raise the level of the bed if nothing else...

Thanks

Right....In that case I'll leave that Idea.....

It's not that difficult, get some slow release fertilizer granules and
chuck some in and mix it up or a few handfuls of pelletted chicken
manure.

I wouldn't want to use this for something going to be in the point for a
few years but for annuals, hanging baskets etc. it's be fine - and
cheaper than buying new.

I'll do this then....

And then at the end of the season you can still use it for this :-)

I have a some of this......Never saw a use for it so never used it!

Not thought about doing any baskets...
I have 2 that the last tenant left behind....They are just the wire frame
with the thick matting to hold it together....
I may have a go and see what I can do!
