Default Laying new top soil and turf

Xref: kermit uk.rec.gardening:154463

Hi people,

I was wondering if anyone here can give some good advice! ;o)

I'm in the process of getting top soil, new turf etc etc, to try and tidy up
my garden at the back. I have some turf already, but it is in a sorry state.
I would like to remove it and have a blank canvas to work from. The problem
is I don't know how to remove the existing turf/weeds/top soil. I was
thining on either getting one of those 'flame throwers' and burn the suckers
(but am scared that the roots will grow new weeds through the newly laid
topsoil and turf. And/or get one of those cultivaters you see them use on
these TV shows, but I am scared for the same reason as mentioned above.

Any ideas how to remove and kill (for good) the weeds? Any help would be
appreciated.

Tahnks in advance,
ZeroAxe.
