Large Spanish Pots

Just got back from Majorca , had a look round a garden center very
intresting but to the point , they have these very large terracotta pots
everywhere ( up to about 4ft high ) two of these would look very nice in my
front garden does anyone know of anywhere in Lincolnshire or Yorkshire that
sells such pots ? thanks for your help

Be wary of them. I have three times fallen for large terracotta pots, only
to find that the frost gets into the material and destroys it by flaking.
All were flogged as "frostproof". Frostproof, my eye.
There are plastic pots of all kinds in garden centres, some of which are
excellent replicas of terracotta pots of all sizes. I have six or so in the
garden. After eight years they are still indistinguishable from terracotta,
except by knocking to hear the ring.

Nothing wrong with good plastic, but if you drench terracotta all over
with masonry waterproofing solution it should resist frost well.

I do the waterproofing *after* drilling out some drainage holes: the
ones provided by the makers are often just silly.

Whisby garden centre near Lincoln, just off the A46 Lincoln bypass,
sells a huge variety of pots, terracotta and glazed.
