Eltex heater
 

Sorting through the previous allotment owners things, I have come across an
Eltex heater, it has a base, which holds the fuel (paraffin?} a burner in
the middle with a tube running up to what looks like a sealed can of water
stuck on the top of two side supports, the can has a tiny hole in it and is
about half full, does it need to be topped up, how?

Has anyone got or come across one of these, I haven't a clue about them and
any info and tips would be gratefully welcome

A web search did indeed tell that production had ceased. Do you use a
heater yourself, what kind, and what kind of price range are we talking
about

Doesn;t sound familiar to me, I believe they are now out of production
(|???) but that some spares are still available.. Possibly you might
find the answer via a supplier of spares? I know they used to make a
paraffin heated propagator..

I inherited some and got rid at the first opportunity - waste of time and
fuel. If you have any choice electric heating is the preferred option for a
small greenhouse. Some gas ones with reservations for a second choice (see
my earlier post on another heating thread)

You may be right about the ease of use of electrickery heating but an
Eltex paraffin heater can certainly have its uses in a greenhouse,.

Use it for taking the chill off newly planted cucs and tomatoes etc

Obviously it has its disadvantages if you want to over-winter
something but many of us could find one too useful to discard
