Default Watercress Wally World

On Saturday we visited our local watercress beds which has a shop adjacent
selling Country foods and plants.

Before passing to the plants section, outside, we selected a pack of home
made sausages and a sprig of their watercress, which is grown in the beds
next to the shop.

Rather than carry them around, my wife left them at the till for when we had
finished our look around.

10 minutes later we returned to the till, with the same operative, and my
wife said can we pay for those sausages and cress now.

"What sausages and cress" replied the very same girl.????????? The wife said
the ones I gave you about 10 minutes ago. To which she denied knowledge of
their existence.

Anyway, after much questioning of the other staff, which there only happened
to be 2, it appeared this very same girl had in fact included them in a
previous customers selection and charged that person for them.

We found this quit comical in thinking that when the unknown buyer got home
and looked through their shopping to find 1/2 dozen sausages and some cress
that they had not picked.

The modern youth........memories or what.

HeHe - Many years ago I worked for a small struggling supermarket chain. In
order to boost the meagre profits, each checkout had to have a small high
value item stashed somewhere near the drawer ( normally a quarter of PG
Tips). Each customer that came up was charged (manually, no scanning in
them days) for their own shopping and for the extra "mystery item". I
reckon to this day that only 1 in 20 people noticed, and that chain is now
one of the "big five" in the UK....
