Flowering here for the first time - I think I'm in love.
Just 3 small clusters, I think she'll keep me waiting a few years for a full
display.

Rod,
How old and big is your plant? I have one about 15" to 18" tall - no
branching yet. I'm wondering how many years to go yet.

Sounds like you're about 2 or 3 years behind us Janet. I need to check out
pruning strategies because it looks as though it might be inclined to get a bit
leggy - I would like it to be bushing out a bit more by now.

We have D. bholua in the garden and flowering generously now but have no
idea which one. Ray bought it in a garden centre which had it labelled as
D. odora. He knew it wasn't that but variety is unknown as a consequence.
He planted it about 10 years ago and we reckon it's about 12 feet tall.
It's very bushy and has never been trimmed or pruned at all. I suppose
you'd call its situation 'dappled shade'.

Ours is growing in similar conditions and the growth rate suggests it might be a
similar size to yours in 6 or 7 years from now, it's been in about 3 years.
