Does anyone have the name for the marigold I am seeking please. All I can
find are
doubles like French marigolds. I want the plain daisy type flower a foot
or two tall.

If so, try doing a google for "pot marigold" or Calendula.

Thank you Stewart. The one I want is like a single daisy type
flower. The pot marigold looks about right. What does a Marsh
Marigold look like?

We used to call them Globe Gowans, when I was a child in the Borders.

I'd guess pot marigold is right. Marsh marigold looks like a cross
between a big buttercup and a celandine.

I was trying to work this out ... you mean buttercup flowers on
celandine leaves, right?

They have a huge number of names. In the Vale of Evesham they are
Crazies.
