For secateurs, what advantage(s) do anvil blades have over scissor
blades?

Scissor blades give the sharpest cut if kept sharp and in good
condition, but it is possible to mistreat them by attempting to cut too
thick a branch and twist them slightly out of true so they don't cut as
well. Anvil blades are more forgiving, but IME have a tendency to go not
quite all the way through and to leave a sliver of bark uncut.

Scissor blades can be forced apart and then they won't cut well. Also,
they wear, with the same result.

Anvil type have a much thinner blade and cut through the wood better
(IMO), but if you're used to twisting your secateurs about to cut
through thick stuff, you can bend or more likely, break the blade.

None!

Anyway, Felco don't make anvil secateurs so why are you bothering to ask?
:-)

None - don't even think about anvil blades. You want to cut not crush. Buy
Felco, you'll never have to buy any more unless somebody steals 'em. My
preference is the classic #2 but most of the range is good including a left
handed model.

I prefer the scissor type for short handled, i.e. one-handed secateurs,
but the anvil type for the long handled, i.e. two-handed ones which are
mainly used for heavier work.

Use the anvil type for hard wood pruning where you could damage a bypass
pair.
(The bypass blades will attempt to pass either side of the wood rather than
cut on tougher jobs,
which makes the name rather appropriate!)
The bypass type should be used for all other jobs.
Felco are good, but you will find that a cheap pair of bypass secateurs will
perform well
for many years - you can get them for as little as £1.49 in Asda!

Not if they are sharp, Felco and used properly.(don't use secateurs where you need loppers)

See my remarks above - buy cheap buy twice - or more.
