What is "partial shade"?

Does this mean dappled shade throughout the day, or that, at some time in
the day, the plant is entirely in the sun, and at others entirely in the
shade?

Many thanks
Kate

I have always understood this to mean either or both.
Best Wishes.

Exactly. Or rather, inexactly. The only clear light definitions are
'full sun' and 'deep shade.'
