Source of oak, elm, ash saplings in bulk

Hi there

I want to convert some of my arable land to "natural"
forest by planting the "usual" uk species. Are there any
sources of bulk saplings at good prices? Are grants obtainable
and/or any problems with the authorities by planting trees on
my arable land?

Also does anyone know where to obtain grants to renovate ponds
and lakes?

Many thanks
Nick

I know a friend of mine in Cornwall got a load delivered with sticks and
plastic protectors all free from somewhere, probably the Duchy, but there
might be someone similar in your area. Try the Woodland Trust.

Amazing what you can find if you just spend a few minutes using Google to
search UK net.
For a start try DEFRA,
Woodland grants.
or if you cant be bothered then go to..........

elms, are you worried about elm disease, or will you
get Ulmus Resista? That's what we use in France, is there
a reliably resistant elm available in the UK? I'm not
frankly sure what the track record of "resista" is, but it is
certainly highly touted and the 2 I have seem very happy...

Hi
The Order of Bard Ovates and Druids have a planting program with grants
available and as far as I know you don't have to be a druid or even a pagan
to get one.
Their website is
www.druidry.org
and look for the sacred grove planting program
hope this helps
