Default grass type plant

I've noticed an unusual tall grass type plant has established itself in a
quite corner and am unsure what to do with it. If I send a photo can
someone identify and give a bit of advice please?

Joe

Thanks, I'll do that if my clever sister can't help me with this one when
she gets here tomorrow.
