Yellowing Tomato Plant
Hello,
Planted some "Tomato Tumbler" plug plants last week each one in a large pot using stuff from a grow bag and some water crystals. Noticed today that the young plants are going a bit yellow. Is this too much sun, as they are out all day or nothing to cause concern ? Thanks. Mike |

AFAIK you can't give tomatoes too much sun (certainly not in the UK). Could be too much water - ISTR that cold/draughts can turn the plant purplish but not yellow. Is there reasonable drainage? Once established and growing strongly it is hard to overwater tomatoes (but it can be done if you try really hard), but when they are little they need more care. HTH Dave R |

Check the bottle carefully. We found that some of the discount shed own-brand stuff didn't contain magnesium, whereas the branded stuff like Tomorite did. After careful ingredient label checking we started useing Homebase and it seemed fine. |

Or perhaps some older leaves are yellowing between the veins? that is common an is probably magnesium deficiency. Spray with a very dilute solution of Epsom Salts. Bearing in mind that this is a plug plant newly potted up (one week ISTR) it hasn't really had time to develope magnesium deficiency, surely? [Sorry, shouldn't call you Shirley] More likely a more serious problem in the potting up. Still a little early for tomatoes outdoors (depending on where you are) although I have chucked some Garden Pearl out to sink or swim. Cheers Dave R |

Probably at a similar age to the OP's plants. If the OP confirms that the detailed symptoms are as I suggested, what else could it be exactly? My guess is the compost is too wet, because of the water cystals which have
been added. "Mike" wrote in message ... Hello, Planted some "Tomato Tumbler" plug plants last week each one in a large pot using stuff from a grow bag and some water crystals.
