Shallow rooting climber for East-facing fence
I have 6' fence and I want to cover about 20' of it. Alongside the fence
is a 3'concrete path so any plant will have to go in a pot of some sort. The plant shouldn't be so thick or thorny as to make the path useless. Suggestions? (So far considered: 1. Several espalier apple trees or maybe a cordon 2. Grape vine(s) 3. Kiwi fruit or similar Actinidia 4. Fan trained fig 5. Edible or sweet peas Rejected as NAF: - Ivy - Russian or "mile a minute" vine. Hydrangea petiolaris? I wondered about that. Isn't it bit tender? As you're new to Cheltenham, you may not have realised that we do -20C occasionally with -10 not Well, my climbing hydrangea has now survived 3 years in Wales, and that has included one winter with snow where everything froze solid for about two weeks.
