My Fave is the mango which of course does not come from the riverbed but
from irrigated land. Only two days old , rosy yellow and superbly

juicy,
sweet and luscious.

So green mangos are out

Because green mangoes (or mangos) are harvested before becoming ripe, for
distant markets.
They end up on the shelf because they have been bought, shipped, and put
there by shelf-stackers.
If you cannot already see why they are picked green in this particular case
then I am wasting my time.
In England neither the Supermarket bosses, buyers. distributers or most of
the general public know what a ripe mango, looks like. The first three
groups of traders mentioned have only one thought. Get the produce quickly,
get it shown quickly on the shelves , get it flogged off for money, - at a
profit..
Since they do not know what a ripe mango looks or tastes like and have never
lived in the Countries that grow them, they see mangoes and they are green-
so who gives a damn?, - that's how they are ..--.. er, - innit?.
