Dwarf french beans, easy?

Are dwarf french beans easy to grow. I have never grown them before.
They were easy to germinate and now some are in pots and others in
big raised beds. Any tips for a really good crop?
Thanks, Diana

I know I'm noy answering your question but ...

Try Blue Coco - a climbing French Bean. Still time to plant, purple pods
(easy to pick), purple and cream flowers (attractive), long season (we
pick July to September), not attacked by anything, germinate very well,
taste excellent, happy in large pots with 2-3 canes, don't need lots of
water/attention, keep producing from bottom to top of plant as long as
you keep picking, germinate well from your own seeds. We've been growing
them for 3 years and find them excellent

Sounds like you've done pretty much everything you need to ensure a
good crop. Beans like a good, rich soil and plenty of water - if you
give them that they'll grow away without much trouble at all.

Just make sure to pick the beans regularly, to ensure further
cropping.

Depending on your location you might have to protect the crop from
pigeons, rabbits and deer....not much else seems to go for beans.

Regards,

um. Enjoy what you get this year, and next year plant climbing French
beans? ;-)) Honestly, I grew both last year (Cobra climbing, the
dwarves were a gift) and the climbing beans cropped far more heavily and
over a longer period. The friend who gave me the dwarves was so
impressed she's switched to climbers this year!

Thanks to all. I will grow Blue Coco next year. Green veg from the
garden is a good idea here (Manchester) at the moment because,
although we two have always eaten well I am now feeding a son who has
had a bad time but who eats very well indeed, especially vegetables.
He even drinks the water (half a beaker) that I cook the cabbage
in since I told him it can cure ulcers - he had one that burst. Yes,
I know, I do prattle on a bit.

I have never had much success with beans at all until now! I planted French
and Runner beans straight into the ground on my allotment and the majority
of the seeds were apparently picked off by mice.

I then got some plants from another allotment holder who had potted up too
many, they were a bit yellow and the bloke told me to plant them out and
water them with a solution of 2 tablespoons of Epsom (sp?) Salts disolved in
a watering can. Although I was sceptical about this remedy, I tried it and
the plants greened up almost overnight. They are storming away now and I
now use this remedy about once a week to keep them healthy.

Never mind, that's what usenet is for[1]. Best of luck to you all!

[1] I know that technically only the 'big 8' are usenet, but life's too
short.
