Oh how so uncouth that is in such a refined and erudite group as this.

You know what they say about turning the other cheek? That surely would
apply to one's gluteus maximus. Don't you think so?

One should never consider to ponder that those lovely flowers that you so
much enjoy stick you nose in are actually a creature's exposed raw sexual
organs!!! Maybe you should wear protection the next time you give them a
sniff? Especially if you are so fond of the pink!!!

Anyone with children will immediately recognise the signs!!

Picture the two year old - tantrum in the supermarket, screaming fit in any
public place - I'm insecure but important - you take notice of me!! respond
to this and the 'child' immediately thinks "hey this is great - stir up
trouble and I get what I want - ATTENTION - lets do it again. I always
found it was better to totally IGNORE the attention seeking. Sooner or
later the 'child' got the message and realised that it wasn't going to get
its own way; and went away to try something more productive.

I don't think there is any public place for soft porn or swearing. I have
been in the Services and I have worked in a Shipyard where soft porn and
swearing were of second nature, but not within earshot of females, now that
really does make me a square, but that is how I was brought up.

I feel that anyone who posts porn on newsgroups or swears on a newsgroup,
has lowered themselves into the gutter. Sorry, but that is me. I know its
old hat, but I still open a door for a female and will walk on the outside
on the pavement.

Good for you, Mike! Keep on wearing that old hat. There should be more
like you.
With regards and respect,

You're lucky that one of the ladies so treated (oops, make that
"females") hasn't whipped out a hatpin and given you a good
jabbing for being so patronizing.

Out here in the colonies, sexual equality is taken fairly
seriously, and door-opening etiquette has been revised to "the
person going through first holds the door open for the one
following" (if the door opens inwards, otherwise if outwards).
But also "anyone with packages in their arms or otherwise
encumbered gets the door held for them", all regardless of the
sex of the participants in this particular social ballet.

Here's how to be an old-school gentleman and avoid being
hatpinned for your pains: simply ask "may I get that door for
you?" and then act accordingly.

ObGardening: anyone here much interested in perennial lobelias? I
see in an old Plant Finder that there are a great many cultivars
in the UK that I've never seen here. 'Russian Princess' sounds
pleasing, and the 'alba' forms Highly Desirable.
