Default japenese maple

I have a very deep purple leaved maple that has been in for two years
now. Problems - it has lots of little white spots on the leaves and it
isn't growing!. The soil is thick(clay) and on a good summer it would be
in full Sun. My other japanese maple(green feathery leaves) has grown
brilliantly and it is in a very similar site. Help please!

I would give it a good dose of Miracid or whatever it's called now.

Thanks Pam, I have given it a double dose first thing this morning. I
never do things by half and this may be part of the problem!

Double doses of inorganic fertilisers are not necessarily a good
thing. There is a reason why the dose is specified on the package.
