Default What's eating my magnolia

I planted a Magnolia in spring - it's been doing wel up until this week -
Skeletonised leaves. Any ideas

Snails... our magnolia 'Susanne' is infested with them.

Earwigs? I thought mine was being eaten by slugs but after checking
during the night, it seems to be loads of earwigs.
