Scooping bulbs
 

I've seen a technique used on hyacinths where you scoop the bottom off a
hyacinth bulb and plant it upside down to produce lots more bulbs. Can this
technique be applied to other bulbs? Do the resultant plants flower sooner
than plants raised fom seed?
