Tamerix Cuttings
 
Please can someone tell me how and when to take cuttings of tamerix
(tamerisk) is hardwood or softwood the best

They're best taken in February/March. Hardwood prunings, say 12 - 18"
long, about the thickness of a pencil or a little thicker, and put
into a well drained gritty compost.

Tamarix should be pruned regularly to stop it getting lanky. In
Cornwall, they are frequently used as wind-breaks on exposed hedge
tops. It is/was common practice to poke the prunings into the soil
between bushes to thicken up the hedge, as they root very easily.
Prune the late-flowering varieties in late winter / early spring, the
early-flowering varieties after flowering.
