Union Jack hanging baskets

Xref: 127.0.0.1 uk.rec.gardening:161065

Hi,

Perhaps you are asked this many times a year but I'm looking for flowers
that will look impressive planted either together in a red, white and blue
pattern in a hanging basket, or separately in three baskets. Ideally they
should be as near to the Union Jack colours as possible. Flowering time is
through July to coincide with our village fair.

Perhaps the blue could be trailing off the sides of the basket with white
slightly higher and red higher again....?

I'd be immensely grateful if you can help me by suggesting as many species
as you can so that I can then do some research into flowering heights, etc.

Cheers,

Graham

Union Jack hanging baskets

Using common hanging basket/ bedding plants, how about trailing lobelia in
blue and white alternately around the edge, and red salvia in the centre

I also did a quick search on alta-vista:

+"hanging basket" +red +white +blue

which suggested:

( Red Verbena Tukana, White Bacopa Cabana (a large flowered Bacopa) and my
old favourite - Scaveola Blue Shamrock, plus a Red and White Fuchsia -
Snowcap)

The first thing to spring to mind is a combination of Blue trailing
Lobelia + white alyssum + red geraniums.

I found these sites for borders :

'modern victory garden' :

And a red / white / blue seed mix at :
