Hi all

I'm new to this group and I have a query.

Should newly sprouting hyacinth bulbs be kept in the dark, and if so,
for how long? These are bulbs which bloomed last winter and I had
stored in a cupboard, they started to sprout a week or two ago.

The idea of keeping them in the dark is to persuade them to make root
and top growth equally rather than top growth without roots. Therefore
you keep them in the dark until you can see roots come out of the bottom
of the pot. This is the theory. As to whether it's really needed I don't
know.

Hi

Thank you Kay and Natalie for your helpful advice.
