Floppy cyclamen

Last year at Christmas I was given a large-flowered cyclamen. It is
flowering profusely again this year, but on very long stems that
trail rather than rise. The leaf stems are long too.
What should I have done with it?

Not enough light.
Can't do much this winter but place it outside in a light place, but not
full sun, for the summer/autumn and keep it outside as long as possible even
bringing it up to the house wall to protect from frost. Then when it's fully
in flower bring it inside on a cool windowsill so you can enjoy it and
repeat the process the next year. Don't let it get frosted though.
I've got one flowering under our large camellia (tree like) right now, stays
there permanently, but it is well protected from recent frosts by the
camellia a water tank and a greenhouse wall.
