Planting depth for Fritillaria Pesica wanted
I would like to know please what is the depth that fritillaria persica
should be when planted in a pot. I know that in the ground the depth is 4" to the top of the bulb. -- Art Swap seeds and plants and visit many specialist garden forums at Garden Web http://www.gardenweb.com My Garden Web exchange page http://www.gardenweb.com/members/exch/art1952 European Pages http://www.uk.gardenweb.com/ |

Put the bulb in the middle of the pot, more or less. If you can find a deep pot of some sort, that might be better, but I wouldn't waste any time on a search. Be aware that many bulbs do not do especially well in pots, unless you are quite careful about feeding them. Bulbs are very heavy feeders and the amount of nutrition contained in one potful of soil is not enough for the newly formed bulb to properly bulk up. If you only want one year's flowering and plan on then tossing the bulb out, then it doesn't make any difference if it starves to death. -- Rodger Whitlock Victoria, British Columbia, Canada |
