Default Plants for locations database wanted (online)

I am looking for a database (I don't know what the type is called ) where
you put in the details of the location you wish to plant and plant
attributes (light level, soil type moisture plant height etc ) and it gives
you a list of plants to consider. I found one once, I think it was a UK
commercial site and thought I bookmarked it but cant find it again.

This was posted by Adrian Pegg in August 1999 - some are likely to
still be functional, although not all would work the way you are
looking for.

There are several searchable plant databases around on the web - try these

for example:

Plant Finder at garden.com (American) http://www.garden.com/
The Garden Web Plant database (American) http://www.gardenweb.com/plants/
The RHS Plant Finder http://195.40.108.99/rhsplantfinder/pf.htm
The Plant Selector from British Gardening Online
http://www.oxalis.co.uk/plant/frame.htm
Kew Gardens databases http://www.kew.org.uk/web.dbs/webdbsintro.html
The Postcode Plants Database http://fff.nhm.ac.uk/fff/
And finally - not a plant database but worth looking at is Infodigger from
Garden Solutions (American) http://infodigger.gardensolutions.com/index.html

I hope that helps,

Adrian
