Default Why are my crocuses such a flop?

Every year I have lots of cheerful looking crocuses come up in my
garden (in the ground) but before they can open properly they all
flop over onto the ground. This seems to be particularly true of the
yellow ones...

I have a similar problem with hyacinths later in the year... What's
going wrong?
Sheila

Mine go like that if they get hit by rain so I try to plant them under or
near a shrub or similar semi shelter

My mom says that birds nip the tops off crocuses - especially the
yellow ones. I've never seen it happening - but something's doing it to
mine.

They do - and they ravage Primulas sometimes, too and again, yellow seems to
be the couleur de choix!
