Default Euphorbia Wulfenii. Strange flower behaviour!

I have many specimens of Euphorbia wulfenii growing in the garden but this
year one in particular is showing strange flowering characteristics. Instead
of the usual elongating of the stem into the flower spike many of the stems
have "branched" at the tip and each of these "branches" is producing its own
flower spike. The result is multiple flower spikes on a single stem.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

Thanks

Keith
