Seed potatoes going soft

Hi everyone,

Some of my seed potatoes have gone a bit soft and developed long shoots,
especially the earlies. They've been indoors, but I didn't think it was that
warm. They may have been a bit dark though.

Is it still ok to use them if I move them somewhere brighter and colder?

Regards,

Stuart

It depends on your other criteria. I like Champion best, but am having
to give up because of spraing. Of the 'standard' varieties, King
Edward is one of the best flavoured and textured, but is not the
most disease resistant or heavy cropping.

I've found "Majestic" to be good - tends to produce large spuds, last year
didn't have any, so I grew Cara instead - OK, but rather more, smaller
tubers.

Desiree (spelling and/or accents possibly wrong).

For baking, it is by far the best variety I have ever tasted and I am
Irish and should know (even if I am not mad about spuds). I used to
get them in Waitrose (and maybe Tesco) and I (or my missus) is planting
some in a few weeks. Even Deliah Smith specifically mentions them as
good baking spuds.

I agree that Desiree are excellent all-rounders.
