We had quite a bit of frost last night (Sat/Sun 4/5 Jan) The grass was very white this morning at the front of the house and at the time of writing which is 1250, it still. Brrrrrrr! How's everyone else doing - no damage done, I hope? -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.co.uk I was told some moons ago that there hadn't been a frost in that garden for 25yrs. Here too! (sw Norfolk)
Still snowing in Suffolk as well..... Just popped outside and my monstera deliciosa (yes ... the swiss cheese plant!) is still green and upright underneath it's layer of snow. - h |
Frost in S. Devon
I've just checked the final figures before an almost imperceptible
rise in temperatures. The lowest here so far this winter was minus 0.5C (just inside freezing) on Saturday/Sunday night when we had little or no wind. Since then it has remained at 2C by night and struggled to between 4 and 6C by day. The wind chill factor has made this feel almost unbearable, but looking at the plants, they seem to have come through remarkably well. I must be getting soft in my old age! Totally spry and utterly perky looking is Plectranthus 'Sasha' - the variegated form named (and mis-spelled) after Sacha here. Such a cheery mat of almost pink tinged, creamy variegated foliage. I'm going to plant this widely on top of a stone wall for the coming year, it will make a wonderful foil for other plants. Dave Poole TORQUAY UK |
