Slightly OT - identify insect
 

I wondered if anyone could help me identify an insect I found in my garden.
It was bright red, like lily beetle but looked like a strawberry on legs, it
had very definite dimples all over it's body and was very tiny, about 7mm
maximum. Does anyone know what it is?

The only thing I can find which matches your description is a sap beetle,
but I think they only live in America, there's a picture he

Are you sure it wasn't a ladybird?

Was it a Hazel Leaf-roller Weevil (Apoderus coryli)?

Or maybe the similar looking (apart from having no visible 'neck') Red Oak
Roller Beetle, (attelabus nitens)?

Sorry to jump in but here is your "next time".

I browsed through the beetle gallery link and couldn't find the one that seems to be common in my garden.
It has a broad, flat bright green body and long red legs.. about half to three quarters of an inch long.
I find them all over and don't know whether I should be squishing them or not.

Any help appreciated.
