I've tried that .. they are not specialists in such things so tend to import heathers etc .. Thusly the price is still not right :( Kinda looking for around £1 a plant or less for 1 or 2 year old pot grown winter heathers .. looking for around 60 to 100 ... |

OTOH, miracles do happen and you could keep your eyes open for garden sales and for a nursery that's packing up and selling off stock. Or you could buy a few plants and raise your own - slowly. ;-) point taken :) however they have been at our local markets before at those prices quite readily available .. I was kinda looking to get some to establish now rather than latter. I've found a site on the web that does 500 plugs of heathers for £55 which with the math is pretty good .. I would prefer to buy more established plants but the plugs may be a way to go. As you say i could propgate them but then i'd have to wait a further two years for what i need them for. Mind you if it comes down to costs i guess i'm probably going to have to go down that root. Thanks anyway for the reply. |

Go for it, they will make up fast at that size. esp. if you add peat into the soil your planting in. -- David Hill Abacus Nurseries www.abacus-nurseries.co.uk |

I've requested a free sample from them so i can see what the quality of the plants are like but it looks like a good buy .. |

If you plant in clumps of 5 with about 3 inches between plants they will
quickly fill up the space between the plants, and should you loose a plant or two it wont be to obvious. -- David Hill Abacus Nurseries www.abacus-nurseries.co.uk |
