Default OT Who is/was Grimm, why did he build so many dykes, and why?

Occasionally, when I can get myself out of my chair, which isn't easy!

I go for a walk with some friends, and yes I do have some friends!(:-)

Today's walk took us to an area where a Grimm's Dyke was, I did ask my
friends, but they have no idea who he was, or why he dug so many dykes,
cos they are all over the place.

So, can someone put me out of my misery, cos I shan't sleep until I know.

One of the many Grimms was said to be the founder of Grimsby. That
borders on Fenland, where many dykes have been built for drainage.
