clover

Hi

What's the best way of ridding patches of clover from your lawn?

I have four distinct patches and the other day I raked one patch and
literally tried to pull each plant out by the roots, needless to say I gave
up after an hour.
I was thinking of painting the leaves with Glysophatey thingy on the other
patches, "don't laugh"
Seriously any ideas??

Clover is a natural companion plant to grass. It thrives in lawns
because it enjoys the same cultural conditions as grass. Each time the
lawn is cut clover releases some nitrogen from its nodal roots, thus
helping to keep the grass green and healthy. We have three varieties of
clover in our lawn and we enjoy seeing their bright flowers there.

If you really want to remove the clover, you will need to take every
plant out complete with its root node. Even then the clover will return
before too long.
