Jerusalem Artichokes

Hi,
Does anyone know an online source for buying Jerusalem artichokes, preferably
organic? HDRA don't seem to stock them. Also any growing tips would be nice.
We're based in Yorkshire with a heavy clay soil.
Cheers,
Doug

Growing - just stick them in the soil and let them grow. They don't seem
to be attacked by slugs and just grow, usually to 8ft, and the last
couple of years have flowered for me. When it comes to autumn/winter,
just lift them for cooking as and when you need them. You will always
miss enough in the soil for next year's crop.

You could try Beanstalk Organix who are based near Leeds. Easiest to
just buy the ones that are being sold for eating and plant those.

If you don't want very many and are in the W of Leeds I could let you
have a few.

Jerusalem artichoke tubers are offered with some cultural suggestions on
page 4 of the Chase/Organic Catalogue [HDRA] at: www.Organic.Catalog.com

Orders for them closed at 28th.Feb., but be quick and you will find that
Chase are usually very helpful!

Try your local tesco for a good supply of fresh tubers.
