Name that bug ?

Hi all

Following the recent success of identifying my caterpillar and
although not strictly gardening, I thought someone might like a go at
' Name that bug ' for a mystified friend.

Seen SW France, early June. 4 cm wing span. 3 cms long.

Or perhaps a pointer to a more appropriate NG.

TIA Andy

From the pattern on the wings I'd guess at Libelloides coccajus or L.

longicornis.

It looks as if it might be a clearwing moth of some sort.

I'm pretty sure it's your suggested Libelloides coccajus as
illustrated at...

Thanks for the help, I'll pass it on.
