Source of supplies

I am in the process of doing a total redesign of my garden (it needed
it!) and have been trying to find a source for things like paving slabs,
bricks, stones etc for the patio/paths I am going to put in. All my
local nurseries/garden centres seem to have the same basic selection
which doesn't inspire me particularly.

Can anyone suggest a source of something a bit different? I'm in
Felpham, West Sussex.

Many thanks

Brian

For hard landscaping you want a good builders or stone merchants.. Or
possibly a good reclamation yard.. Look at local directories or on the
web. Ask around :)

Have a look at

http://www.pavingexpert.com/

I imagine he has details of various manufacturers of paving, Marshalls,
Stonemarket etc.

Another good source could be the local council, would you believe?
I got a LOAD of york stone "sets" from mine - really cheap too
And some nice paving slabs (not the usual "Frank Sinatras" either)

Good idea, I'll give them a try. I've also found a couple of reclamation
yards near us which I am going to have a look at tomorrow (though that
will now be "later today").

Cheers,

Brian

Or, local roadworks gangs.

I once passed a council gang a few miles down the road, who were
pulling out scores of beautiful granite curbstones to make a wider road
edged with concrete curbs. On my way back I stopped to ask if I could
buy some granite curbs. The foreman said sadly "If only you'd asked
half an hour earlier, you could have had the lot, free and delivered..it
would have been a blessing to get rid of them so close to the job. He's
just taken them to the landfill..."

:-((((((

Janet.
