Prunus serrulata kwanzan

I am interested in a fast growing flowering cherry for the central place of my front garden, ideally to become large enough to partially shade my house.

Have read around and believe a Prunus serrulata kwanzan is suitable but cannot find any retailers selling such (esp online), anyone any suggestions

Hello
This isn't a tree I had heard of before so did a bit of digging around.
It isn't listed in the RHS A-Z of garden plants nor in the Plant finder.
From google - it is sterile so is grafted - thus it is the root stock that it is grafted onto that will give it its vigour.

As Prunus serrulata is shallow rooted, it if often rejected as a street tree because of having roots close to the surface that sucker. I do not know if this applies to this cultivar.

Have tried looking at the species in Plant finder on the RHS web site and but it does not list Kwanzan. It does list 'Kanzan' which is also double flowered and has an AGM

Sorry can't be of more help

Hi,

The correct spelling is Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan' ('Kwanzan' is a typo),
listed here ont the RHS website:
