Don't know what the substance is, but to remove it, simply "wash" your
hands with a ripe tomato and the stain is gone.

Great fun with the grandchildren - I can prove that I have green fingers. OR find a job that they can do handling the greenery and prove that they have green fingers.
I just wash my hands with soap or washing up liquid - both gets rid of it.
