As the DC area does get considerable snow it would now depend on how much
area you need to clear. Ariens, Toro, Troybilt are all good names. Stay
away from Yard Machines and Craftsman. 8 horsepower is plenty of power for
most applications. If you have a small drive maybe 5 or 6 would do. An 8
horse should be in the $900 to $1200 depending on extras.

John Deere walk behind snowblowers are actually manufactured by Ariens. So
says the local Deere dealer who also sells Ariens. All-Power in Granby,
Massachusetts. When they paint them green the price goes up.
