Default Advice needed on woodcare products

Hello everyone.

I am somewhat confused about all the garden woodcare products on the market
and would like recommendations.

I have a summerhouse made of planed softwood which is beginning to look a
bit tatty and in need of a new coat of woodfinish. The wood is generally in
good condition. In the past I have used Bio Woody (in Red Cedar shade),
which seems to be a woodstain combined with a weak preservative, but it
doesn't stay looking good for long because the stain seems to weather away
quickly.

I want to put a new coat of finish on top of what is left of the existing
stuff. The new finish would, ideally:

Be opaque
Shed water well
Breathe
Cover in one coat
Last 5 years or more
Be available in Red Cedar
Be water based

I find that the tins of the stuff I see in the sheds don't give me enough
information.

Many thanks in anticipation,

Keith

Go for an oil rather than a varnish. Osmo is brilliant :-

Fish around for best prices
