I find Google Earth (plain or pro) runs without a browser running. I
just tested it by loading Google Earth and ending all the browser
processes. Google Earth is still up! Google Maps seems to need a
browser running.


Why is that important?


I don't have a browser running all the time.


Why is it a hassle to use one instead of a standalone program? Both require the launch of one program.
