Default Salt as Weedkiller

Does anyone else here use salt in this way?

Not worth it. Although it will work to some extent it is also mobile.

He reckons it's OK as long as it is not applied close to grass or
tender plants.

It is useless as a weedkiller compared to its much more reactive cousin
sodium chlorate (which degrades ulitmately to sodium chloride).
