How to choose between them if room for only one?
Which are more productive?

You are asking Climbing (I assume you mean climbing French type) or
Runner beans, also climbing.
Since I gave up my allotment and was reduced to a small space I have
grown some Climbing French type in a tub, which do quite well., for
one person.
I think given a bit more space, I would grow a few of each, as the
cropping would be extended, and with runners each pod is larger than
the other type.
Good luck.

I only grow climbing French beans and dwarf ones as I find runner beans go tough and stringy when they get older. I don't sow French beans until June and they go on cropping most years until the first frost.
