Default Wisteria (pink ice) pruning advise

"Paul wrote in message ...

Remember : 2 and 6

In the 6th month (June or thereabouts) cut all the long spindly things

back
to 6 buds from the branch

In the 2nd month (February) cut the same growths plus any new ones back to

2
buds from the branch.

Repeat EVERY year.

Yes, quite right, you need to be brutal with it. No half measures, once you
have the main framework then any side shoots should be cut back to 2 buds
during the dormant period during the winter. I do mine around Christmas as
soon as the leaves have all fallen as mine is enlarging the flower buds by
Feb and I don't want it wasting energy on stuff I'm about to prune away.
Any long shoots during the summer just do as Paul says.
What you are after is a structure that reminds me of a stags antlers, lots
of flower spurs.
Does your plant get full sun? They do need sun to flower well (or at all).
