The show weekend is always a long one.
While I think we all agreed the trees weren't as nice as in years
past, the show as a whole was a success. We had a pretty good
attendance by the un-informed public -- and (hopefully) they went
away a bit better informed. At least 5 of them went off with
application forms for joining the TBS (for you folks in Toronto,
that's the Tallahassee Bonsai Society ;-).
The neatest thing is that two of them were at or under 13! The
13-year old had just gone out and bought himself the Simon and
Schuster bonsai book. He plopped down THREE dollars for THREE
raffle tickets and then won a very nice, locally made bonsai pot,
AND a medium-priced set of bonsai tools! Watch out for this kid!
The other youngster was 10 years old and ask a lot of very good
questions. Both said they'd join the club.
(I won a nice shohin juniper that Ben Oki had styled earlier this
year -- but I bought a considerable number more than three
tickets. ;-)
Anyway, a good time was had by all -- until next spring.
