Cut them as the individual flowers are just beginning to open, not when they
are in full bloom. Cut early in the morning, and put them in water
immediately. A splash of hydrogen peroxide, the regular stuff from the
drugstore, will help to keep the water fresh, but it's still good to change
it every day. You can recut the stems when you change the water.

This should give you 3-5 days in the vase--they are just not a long lasting
cut flower.
