Default Compost Pile / Barrel

Check out www.composters.com for a big variety. I would recommend the
Earth Machine, or any enclosed, lockable compost bin. The reason you
want it to have a lockable lid is to keep out mice, dogs, etc. etc.
(especially important if you are composting veggie kitchen scraps in
an urban area, where your neighbors would not appreciate you feeding
the urban fauna).
Besides keeping out vermin, another reason I prefer an enclosed bin
(as opposed to, say, chicken wire) is that it will help retain
moisture, necessary in our Texas heat.
Almost every spring, the Earth Machine folks hold a truckload sale in
Austin , where they sell them at about half MSRP. Last year it was on
May 11. at a couple of mall parking lots. They advertise it with an
insert in the Statesman.

I am interested in starting a compost pile for my 12x6 garden, flowerbed,
and 5 small trees. I want to build or purchase something that is efficient
in decomposition and somewhat pleasing to the eye. Any recommendations that
you can offer in something suitable for my use is much appreciated? Thanks
for your time. Happy Gardening.
