I have not grown one in a pot or otherwise but from the advice you
have had I deduce that it is the IN A POT factor which changes things.
Figs make very far-reaching roots so should not need watering in open
ground but IN A POT will need water regularly because they need a lot
to sustain the big leaves, when they come!
