Cover half and leave the other half, then you'll know what to do next
year! I bury mine two or three inches deep but that is partly to
prevent them from being dug up as soon as they've been planted (still
doesn't always work).

Good idea!..will give that a try. I did plant them down about two/three
inches and put nets over them to stop them being dug up, but they still
managed to make their own way up. I'll try that see what happens and let you
know when the time comes.
